Can a developer respond to this matching post please?

some screen caps of matches where ONE OP hero myself or others wins the match. The match I lost was still baffling given I have a more balanced team.

i wish you guys can be transparent about how power is calculated and how much deviation would we get when we do certain compositions.

Why I get guys with 40% more power than me is baffling. I get guys more powerful than me 99% of the time, when I look at their skill builds, not much differs.

It would be good if you can at least give guidelines on

  1. How the skill points contribute to the power calculation and how do you punish players who don’t invest?
  2. When do you consider a team unbalanced? Is it a fixed point or percentage differential between weakest and strongest member? Some insight would be valuable so we don’t do what you don’t like.
  3. It would help if you can be honest and just display the possible power range that the match maker would give us even before we press play.
  4. Semi off topic. How do you calculate power distribution in gauntlet mode? the main reason I don’t upgrade my heroes is I can’t predict how gauntlet would rate its levels and it’s sometimes a pain to think of new team compositions thru 15 matches.

Yep. The system should just match poor people with poor people instead of punishing them.

Hey guys,

Quick reminder to limit your screenshots to 1-3 per post. Please do not post more than that, or we may edit your post.

Thanks!

another mismatch. But I got away lucky by taking out his mandrake early.

I too get matched up with opponents way more power than me. It should be more balanced.

In these posts I miss something that is overlooked or not mentioned yet. But heroes have elemental advantages and disadvantages. It greatly affects the damage output of your team or the ability to soak damage . Say we have equal teams of 40k. The one team has all mech heroes and the other has all energy. Who would be the winner if you need to guess the outcome?

Having an all elemental team isn’t realistic (but not improbable). And having a balanced team doesn’t only mean poweroutput but also how your heroes are statwise (HP, attack, armor, elemental resistance etc). Baron for example is a good tank but melts when facing a mech dps. A good balanced team has offensive capabilities for all elemental types. Even with an underpowered team you can still win. It is also true that some heroes are better for PvP than other. In my experience the heroes with fast reloads and synergy work best. Some heroes start to shine at gold or even platinum and are meh before that. Balancing with this many heroes is a heck of a job. I don’t think power output is the end to all. Synergy is overlooked imo.bjust my two cents.

Sorry for the multiple screenshots, didn’t knew that rule, but I’m getting so much insane broken matches

2x in a row, my team is closer in power together but I fight players with 6k power more, that’s 25% of my total power

Some of these are hardly shocking. A 3k difference at 48k power? Thats a drop in the bucket at that level.

What @Huginn is getting at is the post-game screen doesn’t tell us what your MATCHING power is. Last patch gave us a “matching” power that can be different from your actual power. It was designed to prevent cheesing matchmaking by not leveling skills (a lot of skills don’t scale well or matter much for PVP so it was smarter to leave them at lvl 1).

For a while my “loading screen” (matchmaking) power was like 2k higher than my team’s “actual” power because I had a bunch of unleveled skills. That’s why your screenshots don’t tell us much, post your loading screens instead.

@GTSaiko We have gotten a lot of feedback regarding the Bucks economy in the game and are discussing potential options to alleviate it.

@Cool_hand @Kraterios The balancing being ‘off’ lately is fair feedback - and rest assured, we are already looking into it.

@Bruticus_One Well said :slight_smile:

@Barnakol This isn’t as straightforward as it seems because there are a lot more elements involve than meet the eye, and as @Sogui has observed matchmaking is only partly based on team-power. There is indeed another matchmaking value involved with determining whether or not a match is acceptable. The matchmaker is frequently being tuned, too, so any values I expose may not hold true for very long. I won’t get into specifics of matchmaking right now, and it’s not so much that we don’t want to be straightforward/honest, but showing the equations involved would increase the current risk (in my mind) of finding ways to break/abuse it further. I know this isn’t the answer you’d like to hear, so I apologize and hope you can understand where I am coming from. Perhaps in the future…

As Elu said, this is something the devs are looking at. Thanks for the reports! There’s no need for further reports, and this topic is becoming a bit of an echo chamber, so we’re shutting it down. Rest assured, the devs are aware, and are looking into this.

Thanks guys
