I wish they would, it has been here so long and is so dumb, but then again, every co-op pvp event we always bring it up, and nothing happens, just a sad repeating cycle
Here we go again. You’re not the first to adress this, and not the last.
For so far, it is not getting fixed because it is an intented mechanism. That is all there is to and that is all there will be to it. Repeating this exact same topic every week isn’t going to change it
I wouldn’t call an exploit an intended mechanism.
Lol the same cycle, every time there is a pvp co-op event, as I said above, there always happens to be one new person posting asking it to get fixed every time, but alas, we may never get it fixed… sad…
So now this bug is called “an intended mechanism”? Lol
Reminds me of the story about a guy who fell down the stairs… got up… brush himself and tell the onlookers “That was intentional.”
Ok I have to admit, that’s a funny joke comparison.
I think part of the reason why this is not getting fixed is because every time someone raise this topic… “bug defenders” are very quick to respond saying stuff like things are “working as per designed” or “working as intended” or “this is the punishment system at work and is working as per expected”.
If you look at my screenshot, do you truly believe that the developers who created coop pvp “intended” for level 5 bronze to be matched up against level 100 ruby? Lol.
Other sad part I like to iterate is that even very simple bugs reported in earlier forum topics are not being addressed. Simple bugs like viewing “heroes of other players but the skin level is showing your own skin level” or “in coop, you dont always control the hero on the left”.
I think the best chance of these bugs ever getting fixed is when players (who are annoyed by these bugs) eventually works as developers themselves; or; buys and take over the game.
I agree with a bit of that, not the last part, but so many things could be fixed…
Well, we all know how to do that in order to get weak (real) opponents. The problem is that not so strong players meet high level players and that very often.
But now about why this happens, so we take 2 weak heroes (green hero’s), “feed” the internal (PvP) cache (which stores the hero data) and play a round, damn lost, ok new round, this time with strong heroes. Wow, my ruby heroes are playing against green heroes again, easy, we always do it like this now.
So what’s the problem? The problem is that the fed (PvP)cache persists until you quit coop PVP, the game freezes, or the game crashes (which forces a restart). How to fix this, well let’s write a small command line that clears the cache between 2 coop pvp games. For example -behind- the “Play again” button. Delete hero data, read in again.
This command line already exists, but only in normal PvP. Even an auto-match with weak heroes and an immediate abort in order to then play with strong heroes should then no longer be possible.
While I have no insight to what the issue looks like on the devs end, I can say however that “bug defenders” as you called them, or otherwise people claiming nothings wrong won’t effect whether or not an issue is looked at by the dev team. Here’s to hoping we get it fixed soon.
In the once wise words of Muninn,
“If it seems easy, simple, and/or obvious, there’s a reason why it hasn’t been done yet.”
If “bug defenders” keep on saying everything is okay… it can make the issue sound less serious that it actually is thus could cause further delays to fixing since there are people who accept it.
Anyway, I dont know how Hothead or Deca works. But from where I work… if we get repeated complaints from our customers over and over again and our managers/CEO learn about it… we could get into serious trouble for ignoring the issue.
Even if something cannot be fixed, a simple communication providing feedback would have been nice.
- “we are still trying to learn the code and will address this issue once we know hot to fix it”
- “we are currently short-staff hence the delay in fixing this, thanks for your understanding”
Also, when I mentioned about this problem in the bug list topic… I not only raise the issue, I actually provided suggestions on how to resolve it.
Option 1: just match on strongest hero. Treat PVP matching as if you are just matching one hero vs one hero.
Option 2: if above is too difficult to implement, then for the time being… simply turn off player vs player matching and let player fight bots. This is something the game already does when it cannot find a player opponent. So I dont see why it would be difficult to implement this workaround for the time being. Just think about it… if during pvp events players only play against bots which at the moment are always evenly matched… I can pretty much say with absolute certainty that no one will raise this matching issue again. A simple workaround solution to a long time problem.
Obviously, I would find it hard to believe if they say they can’t even do option 2.
With regards to Munnin’s comments…
DAD: Hey, I thought I told you to clean up your. Why is it still a mess?
SON: If it seems easy, simple, and/or obvious, there’s a reason why it hasn’t been done yet.
DAD: What the heck are you talking about? You are just playing video games and doing something else.
SON: Wait, let me get my “Bug Defender” friend to explain this situation…
BUG DEFENDER: Hi Sir, asking your son to clean up his room everyday will not do anything. Don’t you think if it can be done, your son would have done it already?
DAD: Are you saying he is unable to clean his room? Looks more like the DONT want to clean his room.
BUG DEFENDER: Sir, your son is not cleaning his room because it is an “intended mechanism”. You are being subjected to a “punishment system” due to “bad karma”. This “punishment system” has been there ever since your son is born. So you see, everything is going as expected.
DAD: Intended Mechanism??? Punishment system??? Bad Karma??? Are you two high on drugs???
Muninn’s comment that I quoted is meant specifically for the context of the relationship between players and devs, not for a child cleaning his room. Lol
Players always assume things are as simple as a push of a button to fix things, and that they know exactly how the game is built and coded, when in reality they are more complicated. Anyways…
I don’t doubt that things might be complicated in the background, but it’s also been WAY too long to be reasonable. The issue’s been there forever and we’ve had no response about the topic by devs in a long time.
I only wish we had more transparency at this point, especially related to the big issues like why we don’t have astral and void frags and the ability to apply “all elemental frags” to them. Just wish we had info on why it hasn’t been done yet.
I do agree that customers sometimes make assumptions that things are easy to implement when in reality its not.
I work in an IT company so I do sometimes experience that first hand.
But I believe there are proper ways to respond.
My managers are mostly non-technical people and they themselves would often like to know why something hasn’t been done yet.
Customers chase my managers for answers… My managers chase me for answers.
And let’s face it… if I respond like the way Munnin did, I would probably get reprimanded and/or fired. Lol
It provided no information, no explanation, and never really answered the question “why”.
It leaves people hanging. You get no indication of when it will be fixed or if it is even being looked at.
So its no surprise why people ask the same question again and again.
Overall, its not the kind of answer I could give to my managers to pass on to our customers.
With regards to astral and void frags… I could probably take a guess.
I believe they came up with these new elements to generate more income as many players are 10-starring every new hero they get immediately without spending $.
So its more for business than anything else.
If you want to 10-star your new void or astral hero… then you spend $ to buy gold to buy Step-up crate repeatedly until you 10-star your new void or astral hero.
So for this reason, they would never put Astral or Void frags in heronium store.
They would never make universal frags to be used as Astral or Void frags.
It would be bad for business. But that’s just my guess.
It does seem that by preventing people from being able to obtain stars in conventional means it makes them money since people are paying to get them, however the normal players are starting to even leave the game because they can’t upgrade the new hero and find little to do anymore because of it.
Again, I wish we had transparency, I would like it if they just came out and told us that they are preventing us from adding stars through normal methods because some people buy this and makes them money rather than just not telling us ever.
